Join Singapore “City Tour" day with our campers at Singapore Summer Camp
After getting accustomed to the fun activities, learning experiences, and the weather at the Singapore summer camp. Our students embarked on an exciting 'City Tour' on the third day. They explored famous landmarks like the Merlion, Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, and the ArtScience Museum. Let’s take a closer look at these amazing places!
The journey kicked off at the Merlion, an iconic landmark that shouldn’t be missed when visiting this lion city. Here, in addition to taking photos and exploring the area, the kids learned from their teachers about the historical and cultural significance of the Merlion. The lion’s head is connected to the legend of Prince Sang Nila Utama, who established the settlement called Singapura after encountering a lion on his first visit. The fish tail, known as 'Mer,' is linked to various mythical stories.
Next, they visited the ArtScience Museum, famous for its unique lotus flower-shaped architecture. This museum not only displays remarkable artworks but also offers an interactive space for visitors of all ages to learn about science. The exhibitions are inspired by Singapore, allowing the kids to discover impressive structures that showcase the harmony between people and nature in urban environments—an ongoing goal for this nation as it strives for a greener and more sustainable future.
The third stop was Gardens by the Bay, a stunning oasis right in the city center. This attraction boasts a diverse ecosystem of plants from around the globe. A highlight of the visit was the Super Tree area, which represents Singapore's commitment to green energy and sustainable urban living. This ties into what the kids are taught at the summer camp, focusing on a sustainable world and healthy living. By combining English lessons on Green Technology with real-life examples they can observe, the kids gain a deeper understanding of these important concepts.
The City Tour concluded with the spectacular Spectra light and water show at Marina Bay. This performance showcased the unique aspects of Singapore, blending historical contexts with the rich interplay of various cultures, including Chinese, Indian, Malay, and Western influences. The show celebrated the area’s remarkable development over the years, culminating in a powerful vision for a sustainable and smart future.
Overall, the City Tour was more than just an outing after long study hours; it was an enriching and enjoyable experience that contributes to the kids' future growth. At Berlitz summer camp, they don’t just improve their English rapidly through the Berlitz method; they also create unforgettable summer memories. By combining knowledge with practical activities, Berlitz summer camp is dedicated to equipping kids with the skills and insights they need to become future leaders and global citizens.
